Writing Resources

The ability to clearly communicate thoughts is vital in the Social Sciences. Below are some good resources for students to use in the writing process.

Writer's Handbook from the University of Wisconsin

The Term Paper Edge, run by Harvard University grads

Writing tips for Students, from the Houghton Mifflin Company

The Elements of Style, an online book from William Strunk, Jr. on writing tips

The Citation Machine, not so much a style guide, but this site allows you to fill out information on a book, and then automatically generates citations in MLA and APA style. Neat!

Writing Across the Curriculum, from the University of Pittsburgh. Probably more appropriate for curriculum leaders, this site has information on incorporating writing across the curriculum
